Commercial catering gas is a specialist ticket, and it is the core of what we do. From the incoming gas supply to the appliance on the line, we install, connect, repair and safety-check gas-fired catering equipment for restaurants, takeaways, cafés and hospitality venues across Sheffield.
The work is carried out under Gas Safe registration 962705, which covers commercial catering gas work.
What we work on
- Commercial ranges, ovens and cookers
- Fat and pressure fryers
- Forced-draught burners
- Char grills, griddles and tandoors
- Gas pipework, isolation and connection to catering equipment
We keep to gas-fired catering equipment. If a fault is electrical or refrigeration, we will say so rather than take on work outside our competency.
Common commercial kitchen gas faults we attend
A commercial kitchen runs its gas equipment hard, and the faults tend to be recognisable ones. These are the sort of problems we are called out to:
- Flame-failure and thermocouple faults. A burner that lights but will not stay lit, often down to a faulty flame-failure device.
- Gas valve failures. An appliance that will not fire, or keeps cutting out, where the gas valve has failed.
- Blocked or worn burner jets. Poor, uneven or yellow flames caused by fouled or worn jets.
- Ignition and pilot problems. Repeated ignition failures, or a pilot that will not hold.
- Low or fluctuating gas pressure. Equipment underperforming across the kitchen, often a supply or governor issue.
- Perished hoses and bayonet fittings. Worn flexible connections and quick-release fittings on movable equipment.
Some are a quick fix on site, others need a part or work upstream on the supply. Either way, we tell you what we have found.
Install, connect, commission
New or replacement catering equipment is connected on the correct fittings and commissioned before it goes back into use. Where the supply needs work, we handle the pipework, meters and governors too. For ongoing compliance, we also issue CP42 commercial catering gas safety certificates.
Reactive when a kitchen goes down
A catering gas fault can stop a kitchen trading. We run a 24/7 commercial response and aim to be on site the same day. If your issue is a leak or plumbing failure rather than gas, see emergency commercial plumbing.
